With the current pandemic affecting everything around us including the way organizations do business, Intalio took a new operational decision for working smarter and remaining safe.
Intalio was among the first companies to resume work from home before any official announcement was made. Intalio management was keen on ensuring employees’ safety.
Our projects have not been affected by the pandemic. Our deadlines were met and our employees are successfully communicating with each other remotely.

What Happens After –

After the experience of working from home and as a professional company in digital transformation, Intalio management believes that the pandemic has started and will continue to reshape the work experience with a better focus on work-life balance. With the right tools, working from home has proven to be more effective than working from the office. Putting work-life balance at the frontline, we can already see the change in the way businesses will begin to operate. Attending the office might become something really rare and almost non-existent for most organizations today!

Raising Questions –

The recent pandemic has affected the economy by creating dire economic circumstances that many families are suffering from. Additionally, though some of us are able to work remotely, some employees are still requested to attend the office. Without forgetting travel bans and having to travel for business, these conditions have raised many questions and will affect the future of work, here’s how:

1) How can organizations better protect employees?
Yes, sure, homeworking will continue, but so will returning to the office – in some – form. The challenge will be in adapting the physical workplace to accommodate the employees in a healthy and safe way while abiding by the social distancing rule. This could mean embedding more technology into the space where minimum contact is required from employees to get things done, opening the door for example.
2) How can organizations adjust the work-life-balance?
The pandemic has removed the harmful assumption that the 24/7 work culture is working well for anyone. The expectations of an “ideal worker” are no longer about employees who exceed office work hours. There has become a realization that an ideal worker is someone who can get the job done on time. Regardless of how, when and what, without being compensated any less.
3) When is travel for business really mandatory?
Travelling for business will become almost nonexistent after virtual meetings have proved to be equally effective as meeting in person. The statement of “let’s see which meetings could have been phone calls..” became so relevant in times of the pandemic where work was not affected regardless of social distancing especially with the right tools that facilitate virtual meetings and virtual follow-ups.

Today, with more governments worldwide starting to allow businesses to open their doors and employees to return to the office, we are starting to see that many organizations have started to operate normally.

However, the Management at Intalio took a decision to remain working remotely for the safety of the employees and their loved ones. This decision was taken as Intalio believes that a further assessment and monitoring should be made before returning to the office. As long as the virus is still existent, we are under a threat.

Do you think we will be witnessing more organizations returning to operate normally? Or will we see organizations permanently working from home in the future?
